Counter-offer
Thank you for your letter dated December 13, offering us the captioned article.
We appreciate the good quality of your products, but regret to inform you that your price appears to be on the high side and out of line with the ruling market. Information indicates that the price of your products is 15% higher than that of the Chinese origin. Therefore, to accept the price you quoted will undoubtedly leave us little profits on our sales. Should you be prepared to make a reduction of 10% in your price, we might come to terms.
It is in view of our long-standing business relationship that we make you such a counter-offer. As the market of pig casing is declining, we hope you can cable us your acceptance as soon as possible.
(Counter) Counter-offer
We have duly received your letter of December 13. We regret to learn that you are unable to accept our offer, since other suppliers are offering at lower prices.
Desirous as we are to do more business with you, we are sorry that your counter-offer is unacceptable to us. The best we can do is to make a reduction of 5% in our original quotation.
We wonder whether other suppliers are offering a quality as good as ours. We do hope that you can direct the attention of your clients to this point and try to persuade them to take into consideration not only the price but also the quality, which in our opinion is more important.
We await your early reply.
Another (Counter) Counter-offer
From your letter of December 13, we are disappointed at learning that you are unable to accept our offer because your clients consider our price unacceptable.
Although we are desirous to expand business with you, we regret that we can not see our way clear to reduce our price to the level you indicated. We have to point out that your counter-offer is obviously out of line with the price ruling in the current market, as other buyers in your neighbouring countries are buying freely at the price we quoted. In view of our mutually beneficial business relationship, however, let’s meet half way. We suggest a reduction of 5% on orders more than GBP5,000. Only on orders of this size can we manage to make the reduction.
We hope our counter-proposal will be acceptable to you and look forward to your favorable reply.
Conclusion of Business
We have duly received your letter of December 13 and regret that you have turned down our counter-offer.
As we are in urgent need of the goods and anxious to conclude the business with you, we have made every effort to persuade our client to accept your original offer. Fortunately, our client has changed his mind and approached us again with an order of USD50,000 on usual terms and conditions.
We are very pleased to have been able to finalize this initial business with you and looking forward to your sales contract, upon receipt of which, we will open the relative L/C without any delay.
